I’m a documentary filmmaker and journalist from Portland, OR. I’m drawn to stories of belonging—ones that explore the ways in which people lose, search for, or recreate a sense of home, especially amid political or social landscapes that threaten their ability to do so. I spent four years working as a producer for Blue Chalk Media where I had the opportunity to work on stories about transgender rights, student-led gun control activism, and faith in America.
My work includes “Fighting For Racial Equality: A Conversation Between Generations,” winner of the Best Short Documentary at the New York Short Film Festival, and “Tim’s New World,” recipient of the Award of Excellence for the Communicator Awards and Cynopsis Social Good Awards. My favorite project was filming “Big Dreams in Umatilla” – a feature length film about a high school robotics team in a rural Oregon town, which premiered on OPB.
I’m now a graduate fellow at the University of Pittsburgh pursuing a Master of Fine Arts in creative nonfiction writing. I’m available for freelance producing and writing.
